I don’t know if I am or not but I feel like I am the ONLY person, living in Dade County Missouri, who has NOT eaten at the quaint little restaurant called The Dadeville Cafe…well at least until today. I’ve been here since the summer of ’98 and although I’ve heard it mentioned over ten dozen times, I had not even so much as laid eyes on the front door of this place. Let me just start off by going on and on about how cute and simple it is. I’m not sure how many tables or booths they have inside but I’m guessing not more than ten. It’s a “seat yourself” kind of place with the ambiance of your grandma’s house. I felt comfortable the moment I stepped across the threshold.
The menu has so many choices that when the little server (waitress from where I come from) came up to take our order I just asked her to tell me what were everyone’s favorites. Of course she read my mind and said the “catfish and fried shrimp” platter. How did she know EXACTLY what I was hungry for when I walked in (just another bonus)? Their “sides” menu is probably the LONGEST list I have ever seen and topping the list was fried zucchini!!! My second favorite to that is fried okra and guess what…yep, you guessed it! were served on a potpourri of the cutest dishes that looked like they actually did come from your grandma’s kitchen cabinets. The food was nothing short of a great home cooked meal. I now believe EVERYTHING I’ve heard about this little hidden treasure. Folks from the surrounding counties will swear on their family bibles that the Dadeville Cafe has the BEST sweet tea this side of Turnback Creek, maybe even on the other side too, and I have to agree with that. It’s freshly brewed and the perfect ratio of sugar…can’t be beat…not even by me (and I think I make the best sweet tea around)
The Dadeville Cafe is located at the junction of Highway 245 and Highway W right smack dab in the middle of Dadeville, Missouri…which is only about a spit long and wide. Their Facebook page states that it’s “great food in a great atmosphere, daily specials, and the best sweet tea in Southwest Missouri!” They’re telling the truth for sure. My advice to anyone who hasn’t tried it out yet…DO IT! You won’t be disappointed! I’m not one to rave about something unless I feel it’s “rave worthy” and I can honestly say and give a shout out to the Dadeville Cafe and say I’ll definitely go back. I may not cheer for the Bearcats because I’m a Wildcat but I will support this little “out of the way” hometown business because in our neck of the woods…that’s what you do!!
